If you enjoy carp fishing in Cheshire, Gawsworth Fisheries offers a brilliant choice of waters, fish sizes and fishing experiences. From busy pleasure fishing to specimen carp sessions, each pool has its own character and gives anglers something different to enjoy.

Whether you are looking for regular bites, a relaxed day by the water, or the chance to target a bigger carp, Gawsworth Fisheries has a pool to suit your style.

What Carp Can You Catch at Gawsworth Fisheries?

Across the fishery, anglers can target several popular carp varieties, including:

  • Common Carp
  • Mirror Carp
  • Ghost Carp
  • Crucian Carp
  • Koi Carp
  • F1 Carp
  • F2 Carp

This variety makes Gawsworth Fisheries a great venue for both experienced carp anglers and those still learning the sport. Some waters are better suited to specimen hunting, while others are ideal for beginners, juniors and anglers who enjoy a busy day on the bank.

Wood Pool: Specimen Carp up to 32lb

Wood Pool is the main specimen lake for Carp and Catfish at Gawsworth Fisheries. It is around five acres in size, has 25 pegs and one island, with depths ranging from around two feet in the shallows to just over five feet at its deepest.

This is the pool to choose if you are looking for bigger fish. Wood Pool holds large carp up to 32lb, with Common and Mirror Carp over 30lb and Ghost Carp over 20lb. It is also a strong choice for anglers interested in night fishing by arrangement.

If you are targeting a memorable carp, Wood Pool should be high on your list.

Park Pool: Common and Mirror Carp Over 25lb

Park Pool is a well-established two-acre water situated beside Wood Pool. It is classed as a runs water, which means it can offer plenty of action while still holding good-sized fish.

Park Pool contains Common and Mirror Carp over 25lb, as well as Koi Carp, Ghost Carp, F1 Carp and Crucian Carp. It also has two islands and patches of lilies, giving anglers excellent features to target.

This is a great all-round pool for both specimen hunters and leisure anglers. It is also a good choice for novice anglers, beginners and juniors who want a varied and enjoyable day’s fishing.

Coppice Pool: Carp up to 28lb

Coppice Pool is another excellent option for carp anglers. This two-acre pool has a long central island, 20 pegs and depths of over eight feet, making it one of the deeper waters at Gawsworth Fisheries.

Coppice Pool has been stocked with good-sized specimen Carp up to 28lb, with Common and Mirror Carp also listed within the pool’s fish stocks. The central island creates a strong feature for anglers to fish towards, and the depth gives this water a different feel from some of the shallower pools.

For anglers looking for a peaceful session with the chance of a quality carp, Coppice Pool is a great choice.

Spring Bank Pool: Common and Mirror Carp up to 26lb

Spring Bank Pool is almost three acres in size and is the deepest water at Gawsworth Fisheries, with depths from around three feet in the shallows to approximately 12 feet in the deeper areas.

It holds both Mirror Carp and Common Carp up to 26lb, along with Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd and other coarse fish. Because of its depth, Spring Bank Pool is a good all-year-round water and can provide excellent winter sport as well as big summer catches.

If you enjoy fishing deeper water and targeting island features, Spring Bank Pool is well worth a visit.

Wall Pool: Historic Carp Fishing up to 15lb

Wall Pool is one of the most historic waters at Gawsworth Fisheries. It is over 400 years old and was originally built as a carp pool for Gawsworth Hall.

Today, it is stocked for enjoyable leisure fishing and holds Common Carp, Mirror Carp and Ghost Carp up to 15lb, along with Crucian Carp, Tench, Chub, Barbel, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Bream.

Wall Pool is a brilliant choice for anglers who want a fun, active session on a water full of history and character.

Serpentine Canal: Busy Carp Fishing up to 6lb

The Serpentine Canal is Gawsworth Fisheries’ private canal, with 46 pegs and an average depth of around seven feet.

This water is not designed for specimen carp fishing. Instead, it is ideal for anglers who want a busy day with plenty of bites. It holds small to medium-sized Carp up to 6lb, including Koi Carp, Ghost Carp, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, F1 Carp and F2 Carp.

The Serpentine Canal is perfect for match anglers, juniors, beginners and anyone who wants an enjoyable, action-packed session.

Which Pool Should You Choose for Carp Fishing?

If you are looking for the biggest carp, Wood Pool is the main specimen water, with carp up to 32lb.

If you want strong all-round carp fishing, Park Pool offers Common and Mirror Carp over 25lb and a good mix of other species.

If you prefer deeper water and island features, Coppice Pool and Spring Bank Pool are both excellent choices.
