Handling & Photographing Fish
Landed a catch worth remembering at Gawsworth Fisheries?
A great photograph starts with careful preparation and always putting the fish’s welfare first.
Handle it carefully, photograph it well and return it safely.
1. Have your camera or phone ready before lifting the fish.
2. Keep the fish safely in the landing net while you prepare.
3. Wet your hands, unhooking mat and sling before use.
4. Always use barbless hooks for quicker, safer unhooking.
5. Kneel or crouch over the unhooking mat—never stand while holding a fish.
6. Support the fish properly underneath its body.
7. Keep it low and limit its time out of the water.
8. Take a few quick photographs, then return the fish carefully.
